8 days 'til departure

It's been a while since I've posted and that's mostly because we've been so busy with preparation. I don't know if all who "loop" put in this much work and attention to detail, but we figure we're gonna live aboard for a year, so let's do everything we can to make it comfortable. We've just about got 'er done and are getting anxious to get outahere and have the adventure begin. We've got Brian and Allie's wedding to attend on October 2 and the following day is our departure date.

Our BON VOYAGE party was held a couple of weeks ago. The picture is us standing under our balloon arch, created by our friend Greg of uniqueballoons.net (Greg also created the worlds largest balloon arch back in '04 when the Grand Excursion came up to St. Paul via the Mississippi, you can see it on utube, it's pretty cool). Anyway, thanks to the 150+ of our friends and family who came over to the party to eat sloppy joes, etc., tour the boat, and ask us questions about our trip. It was really fun and we got to see quite a few folks who we hadn't seen in a while. Keely and Sue worked all day to keep the food coming, thanks to them and the "chopping party" from the night before which included Linda and neighbor Cheryl. We are very blessed with great friends and our neighbors are the best. They created a custom made cookbook for us to take on the trip.

I'm blogging tonight using the ATT Air Card to connect to the web. It was alot of messing around in the ATT store and on the help line, but seems to be working great for now, so we should have an internet connection whenever we can get a cell phone signal. So that's all for now, and my next post should be from somewhere on the upper Mississippi River.
